DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day1: Pak-Ou Cave with lunch

  • You will be met by your local private tour guide where you will be transferred by private air-conditioned vehicle to the boat pier where the cruise awaits.

  • Once a sail the boat first makes a stop to explore Ban Xang Hai also known as the 'whiskey village' to see the process of making lao-lao, the country's beloved rice whiskey second only to Beer Lao in popularity.  Here you will be given a full demonstration of the traditional distillation methods.

  • Continue by boat to the sanctuaries of Pak-Ou Cave and witness the intriguing sight of over 4,000 Buddha images.

  • Enjoy lunch on board the boat in front of Pak Ou Cave

  • Cruise back to Luang Prabang on the Mekong River and observe the picturesque limestone formations and local way of life along the river.  

  • Upon return to the boat pier your private guide and driver will transfer you back to your hotel.

Pak Ou Lunch cruise

Day 2: Mandalao Elephant camp – Kuang Si Waterfall and Sunset Cruise

You will be met at the lobby of your chosen hotel.  From here we will begin your tour by private air conditioned vehicle approximately 30 minutes to the MandaLao Elephant Camp located on the banks of the Nam Kan River. Here you will enjoy the Therapeutic Trek tour (half day tour) which includes the following:

  • Arrive at Mandalao – get an in-depth introduction into elephant behavior and communication.

  • Meet the elephants – cross the river for first introduction to the elephants

  • Bathing – Elephants and mahouts will interact and continue their on-going bonding on the river while you watch them and enjoy the majestic elephants during bathtime.

  • Begin trek – Pass beautiful Lao gardens before exploring the jungle covered Huay Nok stream. The trek is 2.5km and takes approximately 1.5 hours and is flat and shaded most of the way.

  • Say Goodbye – After some final treats for the elephants begin trek back to Mandalao

  • Lunch – Enjoy traditional Lao cuisine made from own organic produce.

After lunch at Manda Lao we will continue by private air conditioned vehicle to Kuang Si Waterfall.

  • Upon arrival take a leisurely hike through the national park towards Kuang- Si Waterfalls and pass by the Asian Bear Rescue Centre.

  • Enjoy feeling the mist of the cool, turquoise waters of the different waterfalls.

  • Hike to the top of the main waterfall from where you can enjoy the panoramic views.

  • Return to the pools at the bottom of the falls where you can enjoy a refreshing swim.

  • Transfer to Ban Muang Khai and board a local river boat.

  • Enjoy the sunset on board while cruising along the river.

  • Transfer back to your hotel by private vehicle.
